Type Thursdays

As part of PPP it is has been really important whenever possible to go and see designers talk and networking opportunities. I attended a Type Thursday talk at Greenwich university that was really insightful to see and interact with designers that used type or designed it. I spoke with a type designer called Alex Camacho, that did a talk on his own calligraphic typeface. He explained that after uni its really important to ask people you know for job opportunities as this is often the best source for finding one.

I asked about his calligraphic work and how he got into this kind of type design, he explained that through looking at old scripts and texts like the Gutenberg bible for example he personally found this design really interesting and wanted to create his own. It was really great to speak to Alex and contacting him in the future would be beneficial in terms of contacts and creating opportunities.
