Responsive - Collaborative Experience.

Responsive has given the opportunity to work to competition briefs for the first time. This presented a number of really challenging and exciting things. The first thing to point out is how the level of quality needed to be raised. The briefs openness meant a the idea generation stage was really key, getting a appropriate and engaging idea would dictate the rest of the project. The Penguin Books brief allowed me to explore some editorial work that was really fun as well as try and create an original and exciting concept. Overall the experience of doing the Penguin covers was the first experience I have had with working for a professional client. Not having to source all the information was a big change but something I was looking forward to.

The D&AD Mubi brief was another real change, the openness of this brief really meant pushing the ideas really far and trying to create some innovative ideas. I found that the project was very advertising based, though this wasn't what I am used to I found it interesting doing something different. However it made me realise that this is not really the kind of work I enjoy doing and working for smaller companies is definitely more exciting for me.

This module also gave the chance to work in a collaborative group for the first time, this totally changed the way I think about working, before I was really reluctant to work in a group but this process really highlighted how it can be really useful and push the project much further. My group seemed to get on really well which helped the process, but it was the mutual respect we all had for each others work, skills and ideas that made this project really enjoyable. Another big thing that I learnt within this process is the project management side of the work and how important it is. Doing the small tasks like mixing paint and making sure the paint brushes are clean when painting the frames of the animation was just as important as anything else. This is area I feel my skills can be utilised I enjoy giving advise on ideas, making sure the project is running smoothly and this kind of thing. Overall this process has been amazingly useful and has taught me that collaboration is pretty much key to a successful project.
